Last night, as I put The Pistol to bed, she said, "Sorry about the message."
I said, "What message?"
No answer.
But then I found this on my pillow.
You know, The Pistol has done many things that have made me furious. She's done many things that have made me cry. She's done many things that have made me consider foreign adoption. Hers.
But this just made me laugh.
I mean, look at her depiction of me: That's really the way I look when I'm angry. I think the kid might be some kind of tortured artist.
And let's look at her impression of herself, shall we?
The devilish smile, the foot lifted to kick me. Yep, that's my Pistol.
But the nicest touch is the "Love" at the end, with the little heart. Just makes you feel all warm inside, doesn't it?
I'm saving this picture. And when she has a daughter who is making her furious, cry or dial Russian adoption agencies, I'm going to pull it out.
Because Mommy is all about payback.

That cracks me up. The note tone is very mad at you, but she still loves you! Hope she never kicks you - looks like she might have a wicked kick!

That is hysterical and really artistic. My daughters can't write yet but when they do, I'm pretty sure I will find a note or two like this one.

That is awesome! Definitely something to save, if only to torment her when she is a mother.

I'd frame it.

I'm laughing and feeling for you bat the same time. Love the drawings; she really did get both of you down pat.

Excellent idea, Marilyn. Doing it.

I know, Jennie. I cant stop giggling about it. I think there must be something wrong with me.

You can really see the family resemblance, especially in the eyebrows.
Posted by: Nicole | January 10, 2011 at 08:53 AM
Yes, all our eyebrows slant downwards like that. Its a Dusty Earth Mother trait.

That is just flat-out hilarious! Tim sent me your way, and I can't thank him enough. Ha!

Hahaha that is hilarious. Love the idea of you saving the picture for payback. She does have some artistic talent for sure.

Thanks, Jennifer! Nice to virtually meet you :-)
Posted by: dusty earth mother | January 10, 2011 at 12:58 PM
Thanks, Tim. I wonder when shell graduate to drawing herself hitting me with a blunt object.

Whenever my kids are mad at me they now go scribble furious depictions of "mommy dying"
They're never signed "love" though.
So cute.

Thats my kid. Sybil, through and through.

Well...
Her handwriting is Legible.
Her spelling is good.
Her artwork is simple yet specific.
All good grades!!
Here is something I found on Youtube.
A lady from the Filippines. She was a princess there for a short time. But she covered Dame Shirley Bassey.
This is not that lady but a clip if Bassey.
This song should be enjoyable!!

What I want to know if when MAMA ROSE is going to weigh in on this mother-daughter dynamic?
Hilarious that the note was waiting on your pillow to give you sweet dreams.
Posted by: mep | January 10, 2011 at 07:37 PM
This is so funny! How old is she? I'm not looking forward to those days. Though at least they can make you laugh. And by extension, me.

Too too hysterical. Guess she take after you!
Posted by: Nancy | January 11, 2011 at 06:50 AM
Gee, Nance, you think?
Posted by: dusty earth mother | January 11, 2011 at 07:10 AM
That's turn down service you can live without. What happened to a chocolate piece on the pillow?

I just snorted out loud, Erin.

Too funny! That is a keeper ... and definitely good for some potential blackmail. I'm glad I'm still in the phase where I only get love letters from my spawn.
